Bankers

With the IVA and wind-up of Lightpath impending, it’s time to change bank accounts. Easy, right?

Well, no.

Back in the middle of March I filled in a form on-line to open a business account with Lloyds TSB. They never got back to me, so I called them, and a nice lady said that the man in the Leeds branch – Andrew – would be in touch within 24 hours.

I’m still waiting.

I needed to open a new personal account too, and did that through Lloyds TSB too. But because I wasn’t closing my Alliance + Leicester account down straight away, they couldn’t transfer my direct debits over. Six weeks later I’ve just about done so, but I have cancelled several too, as it seems the easiest way to get hold of people to give them my new bank details (*they* then write to *you*).

As for the Sole Trader account… went to Barclays, had an hour-long meeting in 30 minutes (all I need is a simple deposit account), was told I would hear in a week. Which is why I had to phone after a fortnight to find out where we were and if I was going to get an account after all. Which I was, was given details over the phone, and then got home to find lots of paperwork relating to it all piled up on the doormat (apart from the bank card, which will arrive later). Typical.

Roll on August…

I have decided that the Great Break With The Past (TM) will take place on Yorkshire Day, 1 August.

Well, it’s as good a date as any. I should be well on the way to getting the IVA and new Sole Tradership sorted (or starting bankruptcy, whichever works best).

So a final month beckcons for Eeyore’s Gloomy Place in its present format; the end of this blog in its blog-like state, originally started in July 2006. Is three years a good run for blogs? I have no idea…

And then this site will be demolished, cleared and re-built upon (brownfield site, so good for the environment) with a much more limited blog aspect, but probably more of what interests me rather than what cheeses me off, and what I can do in terms of being a half-decent PR/media/web guru. EGP is good therapy though… so, move it to wordpress.com?

I’d like to thank…

So anyway – the FA Women’s Awards…

Yes, Leeds Carnegie won, the Club Media Award. And nominated in the Marketing Award, and Jo got the Regional Media Award (for the work she did with us – many thanks).

But oh! The photographs were dreadful. I looked like a waxwork dummy. Not good at all, but perfectly illustrates why I’m better behind the camera than in front of it.

Still, getting a taste for it now, and aiming for a CIPR PRide Award next. Must win one eventually…
